Performance Technology: Going Beyond Documentation and Training
STC-Montreal Event | Posted January 10th, 2006
Instructional designers and technical writers often dutifully fulfill their responsibilities in developing document and training as assigned. In reality, they are usually excluded from the process of deciding the most effective solution to the problem and determining if documentation or training is one of those solutions. In this presentation, participants will learn the process for conducting a Performance Analysis as applied to a case study.
After attendees have participated in the case example, they will have an opportunity to plan a Performance Analysis given a second case study.
Jane Smith is a Certified Performance Technologist who has been in the field of performance improvement and instructional design for 20 years. She has developed performance solutions, including training and documentation, for a large variety of business areas and delivery media, including: instructor-led, audio, audio-digital, CBT, Interactive Multimedia Tutorials, Web-Based Training, and e-Learning. One of her e-Learning tutorials won a gold award in the 1998 Internet and Multimedia Training Contest, a nationwide contest for training companies, and three of her instructor led courses won Awards of Excellence in the 2000 Regional STC Competition.
She facilitates workshops and courses on the basics of instructional design, conducting the performance and needs assessment, and developing e-Learning courses.
