Falling Into Technical Writing
STC-Montreal Event | Posted April 30th, 2006
Most Technical Writers working today didn’t plan or study to become Technical Writers; they fell into it while planning or studying to do or be something else. Technical writing is an excellent second or third career for people who already have technical knowledge or writing experience and who are looking for stimulating new challenges. It is a hot career with a reported average entry-level salary of $42,000/year.
Are there any special qualities that you may have naturally or that you can develop, which could give you an advantage as a Technical Writer? What skills, aptitudes, background, and education are employers looking for in Technical Writers? Are you wondering how to position yourself to land in one of those $42K starting salary careers? Join Marta Cepek for an evening talk that may give you the push you need to fall into technical writing.
Marta fell into technical writing 14 years ago. She has been running the STC-Montreal job bank since 2002 and is the Chapter President this year.
