All About LISA and Initiatives in Content Standards

For the past 15 years, the Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) (www.lisa.org) has served as a forum about best practices for doing business globally, particularly in the areas of content management, translation and localization. Hosting at least four major conferences annually, LISA brings together service providers, clients, standardizers, and technology vendors to promote and improve the localization industry.
Standards and best practices are also evolving among LISA’s partners, such as ISO TC37 and TermNet, in an effort to keep up to global market pressures and evolving technology, such as in the areas of terminology management and translation quality control.
Join us to get acquainted with LISA or to update your knowledge of the latest industry standards in localization and related language industries.
About Kara Warburton
Kara Warburton is the chair of the LISA Terminology Special Interest Group (http://lisa.org/term), which promotes the role of terminology management within the authoring, translation and localization industry. She is also the chair of the Canadian delegation to ISO TC37, SC3, which is responsible for ISO standards on terminology data management. A regular conference speaker and published author on terminology, Kara has led the terminology strategy at IBM for nearly 10 years. She has an MA in terminology from Université Laval, Québec.

Cost: Free for STC-Montréal members, $5 for STC members not belonging to the Montreal Chapter, $10 for non-STC members
