Title: Technical Writer
Description of the organization
This position is offered by the research and development team of the P3G
international consortium (www.p3gobservatory.org) as well as of the OBiBa
software developer team (www.obiba.org). The selected candidate will be
part of the “Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow Project (CPT Project)”, a
pan-Canadian study on risk factors associated with cancer. The study
encompasses five large cohorts which aim to collect epidemiological data
and bio-samples on 300,000 participants across Canada.
Description of the job
We are seeking a Technical Writer to assist in the development of the CPT
Project’s database software content. More precisely, as part of a
multidisciplinary team, you will:
(1) Document and maintain a comprehensive variable dictionary to be used by
researchers;
2) Write developer, administrator, configuration and end-user guides for a
large and complex software used to collect and report study data;
(3)Assist in the writing of other types of document such as scientific
papers, reports, whitepapers, etc.;
(4) Write web content for project web sites; (5) Maintain a wiki; (6)
Other related assignments as required
Qualifications
· University degree in communication, computer science, health sciences or
related fields
· Fluent in written and spoken English
· Five or more years of experience in technical communication
· Good knowledge of Java, open source framework and relational databases ·
Microsoft Word
· Adobe Acrobat
· Knowledge of standard web technologies
· Experience working in a research or scientific setting, in epidemiology,
or in health sciences
· Detail oriented
· Resourceful, analytical, collaborative
