JUNIOR TECHNICAL WRITER

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Technical Writer is responsible for writing, editing, and revising installation manuals, on-line help, user guides, technical brochures, instruction sheets,
diverse presentations, and other user-oriented documentation.

Requirements:

• Excellent English writing skills
• Background in English studies or technology, or relevant experience (an asset)
• Ability to work with one or more of the following software: FrameMaker, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, CorelDraw, and Robohelp (an asset)
• Can take initiative and detail-oriented
• Strong ability to work within a team
• Communicate in French
• Strong knowledge of electronics and its terminology or experience in the security and access control industry would be an asset

Technical writer

We are currently looking for a Technical Writer who shares our passion for quality and innovative technology. Reporting to the Technical Publications Manager, the Technical Writer will write, edit and revise hardware installation manuals, online help, end user guides, technical brochures, applications notes, presentations, and other user documentation.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in communication or journalism or equivalent;
- Possess a Technical Writing Certificate (asset);
- Possess 5 to 7 years of work experience;
- Have excellent English writing and communicating skills;
- Possess the ability to create technical illustrations ;
- Be technically savvy and be able to learn complex subjects quickly;
- Able to liaise with various departments to ensure consistent voice and content across all channels;
- Able to actively engage with subject matter experts and other technical resources across multiple teams;
- Able to adhere to company style guide and writing standards ;
- Able to work under minimal supervision
- Able to manage multiple projects at once;
- Able to adapt quickly to changing requirements/schedule;
- Know one or more of the following software: FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Acrobat, Illustrator and CorelDraw;
- Be independent, a self-starter, efficient and a team player;
- Be able to communicate in French.
- Familiarity with electronics and the related terminology or experience in the security or access control industry would be an asset.
